We just reported on Volvo's limited detailed sketch of its Shanghai-bound Concept Universe. Now with the opening of the show, Volvo has unveiled the concept to the public. Upon first glance, the front end looks like the 2002 Lincoln Continental concept, while on the other hand we can see hints of the Jaguar XJ in the rear end. The Concept Universe is supposed to underscore what Volvo stands for in China.
The concept also reveals the new platform it rests on, which Volvo calls the Scalable Platform Architecture. Volvo also states that the company is trying to move away from pitching cars as "premium" models; although that's never been a problem in most Communist countries, like North Korea, where Volvos are still going strong. Enjoy the pictures.
