As part of Stellantis' recent Software Day presentation, where the company shared information about its new AI-powered technology platforms, something else made an appearance that caught our eye. We've seen this EV a few months back but at the time, we didn't know its name. We now know for sure that it's called the Chrysler Airflow, an EV concept that clearly shares visual ties to the previously revealed Airflow Vision concept. Compared to the Airflow Vision revealed in 2020, the EV appears to be a lot closer to production. Looking as if it would fit into the compact crossover segment, that would put the Airflow up against some serious rivals. But more than this, it could be Chrysler's most exciting new product in ages.

The current Chrysler lineup consists of little more than the capable Pacifica minivan and the hopelessly dated 300 sedan. A crossover like the Airflow could revitalize the brand's positioning in the US, although it would have to take on tough competitors like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y. As we noted previously, the Airflow is a modern piece of design with sleek exterior lighting, unfussy lines, and a thoroughly modern interior with screens wherever you look. In fact, the entire width of the dashboard is covered in screen real estate. As the Stellantis team discussed, the Airflow will cater to a forward-thinking car buyer that expects their vehicle to be fully connected.

For instance, the car will enable you to conduct meetings easily while on the move. It should also be compatible with over-the-air updates and subscription services, allowing the vehicle to be improved over time and for owners to add new features as desired. No technical details were shared about the Airflow, but it could be the perfect candidate for the company's STLA Medium EV platform. That could dictate that it'll have a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup and produce close to 250 horsepower, along with a range of close to 450 miles. With the new Stellantis EV platforms scheduled to arrive in 2024, that could be when the attractive Airflow arrives.
