The company that Carroll Shelby built from scratch will soon move to a new $1 million campus not far from the Vegas Strip.
The auto production wing of the late Carroll Shelby's company, Shelby American, will soon be getting a new home. Currently, the company has a 185,000-square-foot campus that consists of five buildings not far from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. But starting this December, the iconic tuning and performance company will consolidate its manufacturing and tuning center into a new headquarters only a block away from the Vegas Strip.
The new setup, which will incorporate a museum, gift shop and even factory tours, will be a 135,000-square-foot facility. It will also be very close to the Las Vegas International Airport, making things extremely convenient for tourists. Shelby American President John Luft stated that not only will the new facility "be more nimble and accessible to our customers, (it will) dramatically improve production and operational efficiency." All told, an estimated $800,000 to $1 million has been budgeted for the project. Things have certainly come a long way for the once small company Carroll Shelby started way back in 1962.
