Shelby Raptor Shakes Manhattan

Shelby American bolts on a supercharger to boost the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor up to 575 horsepower.

Earlier today we were joking around the office that Shelby could do a version of the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor – as if the existing model isn’t monstrous enough as it is. But Shelby promised to bring something other than a Mustang to this year's New York show, and here it is. The Shelby Raptor upgrades on the 6.2-liter V8 by installing its own 2.9-liter supercharger to boost output from 411 horsepower (crazy) to 575 (absolutely bonkers). It also installed a Borla exhaust, new wheels with 35-inch BF Goodrich off-road tires.

It’s also got a Shelby-specific graphics package that mimics the stock Raptor’s but lets everyone within a city block know this is Carroll’s legacy. Buyers can also specify tons of options from the Shelby catalog. The modifications meet regulations in all 50 states (yes, even California) and add nearly $18,000 to the $43,630 sticker price of the Raptor. Shelby will only make 100 of them, each individually numbered. But while there were no modified performance specs announced, considering the stock beast already runs 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds, the Shelby version could very well dip into the 5s.
