Should You Buy An Infiniti QX80 Instead Of A Bling-tastic Cadillac Escalade?

Before You Buy

It's like a tank. Only with leather.

It has a naturally aspirated 5.6-liter V8 with 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, three rows of seats and lots of chrome trim. The Infiniti QX80 could even be mistaken by some as a luxury tank, therefore we love it. The QX80, previously called the QX56, is also kind of special in that it’s basically a luxury version of the Nissan Patrol, one of the best off-road capable SUVs on the planet, which is not sold in the US. The first generation QX56 was nothing more than a dressed up Nissan Armada.

But Infiniti knew it needed something better to compete with the likes of the Cadillac Escalade and Toyota Land Cruiser/ Lexus LX, hence importing the Patrol. We were given a week behind the wheel of a 2016 Infiniti QX80 Limited and what a week it’s been.

There’s nothing quite like being behind the wheel of a $90,000 hunk of metal with an interior covered in sumptuous leather upholstery and trimmed with ash wood. Parking? Well, it wasn’t the easiest thing but we managed thanks to the backup camera and other driver’s aids. Our full review is coming up soon, but in the meantime check out our featured walk around video.
