AMG C43 Sedan

Mercedes is one of the few automakers left in the United States that still offers a wagon. Americans can purchase either the E450 4MATIC or E63 S AMG Wagon models in the US, the latter of which packs 603 horsepower from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. We really should be content that Mercedes offers the E-Class Estate in the US but when it comes to wagons, we could always use more.

The Straight Pipes agree because after recently reviewing the C43 AMG Wagon, the Canadian YouTube channel decided to create a petition to sell it in the US. Be sure to give their video a watch and sign the petition to help bring the C43 Wagon stateside.

So what is so special about the C43 Wagon? Well, it is the middle variant of the C-Class between the base C300 and the hardcore C63 AMG. For the 2019 model year, the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 now produces 390 hp going out to 4MATIC all-wheel-drive, making it the ideal AMG model for cold weather climates. Although it isn't a true AMG product like the C63, the C43 still hits 62 mph in 4.8 seconds in the wagon body style and sounds great doing so.

It is interesting that Mercedes would go to the trouble of certifying the C43 wagon for Canada but not for the US, given that the two markets are fairly similar. There is some precedent of Canada getting models that aren't sold in the US, like the Nissan Micra, but the occurrence is rare.

So why haven't The Straight Pipes asked Mercedes to bring over the V8-powered C63 AMG Wagon? Well, Canada doesn't actually get that model and they believe the C43 would be a good first step. The petition currently sits at around 1,000 signatures but we think it will take a lot more to receive attention from Mercedes. If you love wagons, be sure to sign and share with all of your friends.
