Britain's Silverstone Circuit has seen its fair share of amazing automotive moments, not least of which has been the first ever Formula 1 World Championship Grand Prix in 1950. But its most recent addition to the record books came from its hosting the world's largest ever gathering of Porsche 911s, a total of 1,208 cars to commemorate the model's 50th anniversary. The event raised money for the Hope for Tomorrow cancer charity.

Mark Porsche, great-grandson of the company's founder, Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, presided over the event. Le Mans-winning Porsche drivers Derek Bell and Richard Attwood each took the wheel of a 911.
