Sketches Released For The New Rio

Design

The fight for the B-segment of the US automotive market is probably more hotly contested than ever before. This puts a lot of pressure on the Kia Rio, a car which few car companies really cared about competing with just a few years ago. Now automakers are bringing cars like the Ford Fiesta over to the US, and the Rio needs to be competitive with cars that have been tested in the crucible of the European B-segment.

So the Rio is getting a redesign, and we have some of sketches of this new sportier design. Kia's plan was to give the Rio some "emotional appeal", and the sketches seem to suggest that Kia is headed in the right direction. The sketches also hint at an improvement over the current interior, an absolute must to stay competitive. Kia says we'll be seeing it for real at the Geneva Motor Show, so watch this space for updates.
