Skoda's new midsize sedan, dubbed the Rapid, has been spotted testing on the roads of Europe and even on the Nurburgring, however today the Czech automaker has released the first details and photos of the production version of the new model. The Rapid first appeared at last September's Frankfurt Auto Show as the MissionL Concept. However, the production version Rapid will slot between the Fabia and Octavia in the automaker's lineup.

Using the company's older platform in lieu of Volkswagen's new MQB platform, the Rapid features the firm's new design language and, when compared to the MissionL Concept, has new headlights, door handles and roof panel. The Rapid sedan has seating for five, measures 4.48 meters long and 1.7 meters wide. Five gasoline and two diesel engines will be available in terms of motivation while model pricing will allow Skoda to target families searching for their first car. The Skoda Rapid will make its official debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show this September.
