Those Germans have always had the best transmissions. The SL63 AMG is certainly no exception with its seven-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission. MCT stands for Multi-Clutch Technology and it incorporates a wet clutch system where a series of six clutches allows for a preselection of gears. All told, it's a highly impressive system that's used incredibly well with the 6.2 liter V8. Mercedes-Benz engineers were more focused on building a driver's car, rather than an all-out performance machine.

Even though it's no slouch on the strip, it provides excellent control with four shift programs: Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Manual. The gears are selected with either shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel or a lever on the console. Buyers can also personalize their car with the Performance Studio package that has carbon fiber exterior bits, and unique wheels and steering wheel. There's also the Performance Package with a revised suspension, improved brakes, and lighter 19-inch wheels. Top speed is also increased from 155 mph to 186 mph.
