Tara Monroe never expected for us, or anyone else for that matter, to be writing about her. That's because she's now the proud owner and driver of a pink Barbie Jeep Power Wheels that's now her mode of transportation. Let's start at the beginning. The 20-year-old industrial engineering student from Texas State University in San Marcos lost her driver's license after getting pulled over on her way back to school from a concert.

Police suspected Monroe was intoxicated but she still refused to take a breathalyzer test, resulting in the automatic license suspension. Her father, not surprisingly, wasn't pleased. He headed off to campus to take her car away but also brought along her bike, figuring she'll be needing it.

Tara had another idea because "riding a bike around campus sucks." She went on to Craig's List and bought the used Barbie Jeep for $60 whose previous owner was a toddler. Naming it Charlene (the toddler's name) the pink Barbie Jeep is now her campus cruising, kiddie-sized ride with a top speed of 5 mph. "People who don't know me are shocked, but my friends weren't even surprised because I do stuff like this all the time," Tara claims. "It goes pretty fast when it's just me, so I usually make them (her friends) walk behind me like parents taking their kid out to play...it was the best decision I've made in college, yet."
