As a piece of design, the Porsche Taycan is an absolute triumph. Zuffenhausen has managed to create an EV that's modern but still retains classic Porsche design cues. The clean look appeals to the creative set, who see it as some sort of wheeled canvas. This has led to several distinctive art cars, including the recent example commissioned by Porsche Australia.

Whatever you think of the end result, there is a clear theme that shines through, and this is just as true for the Taycan we're telling you about today.

It appears one Taycan owner is a big fan of Smokey and the Bandit, giving the silent German performer a paint scheme that pays tribute to the iconic 1977 Pontiac Trans Am star car.

Unfortunately, the svelte European doesn't wear the gold graphics quite as well as the Pontiac does. On the hood sits the Trans Am Hood Decal (unofficially known as the screaming chicken) which sits at odds with the Porsche's reserved design. Elsewhere, the auric shade has been applied to several exterior trim pieces, the five-spoke wheels, and the 'Taycan Turbo S' logo on the front door.

When viewed in isolation, the gold and black combination doesn't look too bad. In fact, it looks as if this Taycan Turbo S could have been the brainchild of Manhart Performance. This mix of old and new may not be a match made in heaven, but it does show the strong influence the 1977 cult classic still has on gearheads, no matter what they drive. Perhaps this combination would work better if there was a Porsche connection in the film.

That can't be said of the General Lee-inspired Dodge Viper. It may not be a Charger but the Viper is, at least, from the same manufacturer. Just like the Charger, it's also a high-powered, all-American two-door with plenty of power - 2,300 horsepower in the Viper, to be exact.

Still, this Firebird-inspired Taycan isn't the most polarizing example we've seen in recent weeks. Seen below is the harlequin-inspired Cross Turismo designed by Sean Wotherspoon. The esteemed designer placed his unique touches on the electric wagon and, unsurprisingly, it was met with mixed reviews. While some called it an affront to good taste, others appreciated the retro look Wotherspoon aimed for.
