Some Corvette Drivers Have Absolutely No Clue How To Shift

/ Comments

Perhaps the slushbox is the way to go then.

With great power comes great responsibility, so said Uncle Ben to Peter Parker, aka Spiderman. This really couldn't be truer when it comes to driving and drag racing a new C7 Corvette. Under its hood lies a 6.2-liter V8 with 460 horsepower and, in this case, all that power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed manual transmission. Perhaps the owner here should have opted for the optional eight-speed automatic. Why's that?

In a drag race against a tuned BMW 135i, powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with nearly 400 hp and a cold air intake and ECU remap, the C7 loses. Big time. That's because he had an awful take off; it took him way too long to reach the next gear from first.
