Chevrolet has never offered the Corvette as a practical shooting brake. If you need more luggage space, Callaway will extend the rear of any C7 Corvette Coupe and convert it into a stylish shooting brake it calls the AeroWagen. If, however, you prefer the vintage styling of the C3 Corvette, a customized 1973 Chevrolet Corvette shooting brake is currently for sale on Craigslist. This isn't a kit car either; it's a true one-of-a-kind C3 Corvette shooting brake.

The stretched Corvette has a fascinating back story. Back in the 1970s, The Funk Brothers' drummer, Uriel Jones, wanted a Corvette with enough cargo space to haul his kit, so he contacted Chuck Miller, a custom car builder based in Michigan, to see his car could be modified to meet his requirements.

Miller decided the best solution would be to convert the C3 Corvette into a wagon. To make his vision a reality, Miller contacted Harry Bradley, who worked as a designer for General Motors. He also designed Hot Wheels cars for Mattel. This explains why the resulting wagon design that Miller came up with looks like an official GM model. Miller built several Corvette wagons before the design was later sold as a kit car.

One of the coolest and most extreme examples was built for Mike Betterton in Visalia, California. Built in three years, Betterton's Corvette shooting brake looks unlike any other Corvette thanks to its Lexan side windows and full-width taillights from a 1971 Ford Thunderbird.

The front wasn't left untouched either as the custom Corvette shooting brake features six headlights. In total, these modifications cost $25,000. Unsurprisingly, it attracted a lot of attention in the media and was featured in numerous magazines at the time. Sadly, the car was involved in a crash in 1997 and doesn't run so it urgently needs restoration.

It's currently up for sale on Craigslist, so let's hope someone can restore this one-off shooting brake back to its glory. If you're looking for a new restoration project, the seller is looking for around $20,000 but is also open to offers.
