Someone Wants Z06 Money For This Widebody Corvette

Sports Cars / 11 Comments

We're just here for that almost John Player Special livery.

This Chevrolet Corvette doesn't look very wide. At least, not at first glance. It's because of the matte black paint and the harsh midday sunlight the car was photographed in. Pandem's C8 kit is undoubtedly a wide one. Most of the time, you don't need to look very long at a widebody car to see if it's, well, wide. Still, this time we did, and this C8 is better for it.

We wouldn't use the word "restraint" in reference to a $158,998 car, but there's certainly less bodywork here than Pandem typically puts on its widebody cars. Still, there's plenty if you know where to look. After all, this car has 12-inch wheels out back and 9.5-inch three-piece wheels at the front. And that's just the start.

The dealer, Hive Auto Group, doesn't provide power figures for this C8, but it's safe to say "a lot" is an apt description. Part of that could be down to the C8's notoriously tough ECU, however. It's got a carbon fiber engine cover and a Borla exhaust, and this doesn't really strike us as a very stock car, especially given the wheel size. This is, at least according to the tanks in the trunk, the first C8 Corvette on air suspension, which helps justify that price just a little bit.

That's also really the only modification to the interior, as far as the listing states. The controller for the suspension is wired up to the rear bulkhead, but the rest of the insides, 3LT package and all, is stock. Speaking of packages, this 2020 'Vette also gets Chevy's Z51 package and Mag ride. The latter of those adds better cooling, stiffer suspension componentry, and some aero. Of course, much of that aero is gone, replaced by Pandem's handiwork.

But we've neglected to mention the best part: the livery. It's somewhat reminiscent of the old Lotus John Player Special cars from days of Formula 1 past, and at the very least it helps to accentuate some of that widebody kit. We'd skip the giant logos on the windscreen, though. The C8 already has a pillbox feel to it without them.

Then there's the price. With the Z06 set to retail for around $100K (pre dealer price gouging), it's hard to swallow $160k on a car that is certainly not going to be to everyone's liking. Still, a widebody is a widebody, and this Vette looks seriously mean with that Pandem kit on it.
