It pays homage to the trickster god.
Cars play a crucial role in many movies and television shows. Many become synonymous with a certain character; Tony Stark with the Audi R8, Walter White with the Pontiac Aztek, and the list goes on. Oddly, these cars frequently appear on-screen but seldom spawn a special edition for customers to purchase. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a few examples, such as the Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition, the Black Panther-inspired Lexus LC Inspiration Series, and the Renault Kwid Super Hero Edition in foreign markets. Now, Jeep is getting in on the superhero craze.
This special edition 2021 Jeep Renegade is called the Impulse, and it arrives in collaboration with the latest Disney+ show "Loki," which premiered on June 9. The six-episode series follows an alternate version of Tom Hiddleston's Loki character from "Avengers: Endgame," where he escaped from custody using the Tesseract.
Buyers can opt for the Renegade Impulse with either a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel with 130 horsepower or a plug-in hybrid 4xe model with 190 hp from a 1.3-liter engine. The diesel model sends its power to the front wheels exclusively, while the hybrid includes all-wheel-drive. This special edition is based on the Limited trim level with the Function Package, so it comes well-equipped with features, including keyless entry, 18-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, heated mirrors, and a seven-inch touchscreen. The car is shown wearing a nice blue shade with some sporty black wheels.
As for the Loki-specific features, they appear to be minimal and not entirely well thought out. The Renegade Impulse features two badges on the rear door; one says "Impulse," and the other says "Loki" inside a clock face, as an homage to the Time Keepers in the show. And that's pretty much it. Jeep didn't even bother to paint the car green, Loki's signature color. As special editions go, we aren't too mad that this one is not available outside the Italian market.
