The automotive landscape is littered with special edition cars named after the world-famous Nurburgring in Germany. But fewer cars pay homage to Germany's second most famous race track, the Hockenheimring. A new 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition seeks to change that by celebrating the circuit's 90th anniversary. This is the first special edition based on the all-electric Taycan sedan, which makes sense since the circuit was the location for Porsche's longest EV drift world record in 2020.

The GTS Hockenheimring Edition comes finished in Stone Grey, a special hue from Porsche's custom Paint-To-Sample program. That paint job is paired with Bronzite accents, setting this special edition apart from other Taycans. The 21-inch Mission E Design wheels are finished in Bronzite with the rim finished in body color. You can also spot several "90 Jahre Hockenheimring" badges with the outline of the circuit and a large '90', which are unique to this car.

Inside, the car features a custom interior from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. The seats are finished in black leather with decorative Island Green stitching and other green elements throughout the cabin. Several elements such as the gear selector, cupholders, and air vents are finished in Bronzite, matching the exterior. Even the GT multifunction sports steering wheel gets a few Bronzite trim pieces plus a 12 o'clock marker in Island Green. To add some flair to the cabin, Paldao open-pore wood is used for the trim inserts.

Since this special edition is based on the Taycan GTS, it features dual electric motors producing 590 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque when utilizing overboost. That's enough to rocket this electric sedan up to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.

Sadly, the GTS Hockenheimring Edition will only be offered in Germany and other selected European markets. Customers who buy one will receive a special key fob with the Hockenheimring anniversary logo on it. This key entitles those owners drive into the Hockenheimring Porsche Experience Center (PEC) and get preferential parking at the monthly PEC "Fruhschicht" events. While the car is at the track, these owners can also take advantage of two years of free charging during peak hours.
