The Subaru Crosstrek is one of the Japanese automaker's most popular models in the US thanks to its spacious interior, off-road capability, and affordable asking price. For the 2021 model year, the Crosstrek received refreshed styling and a larger 2.5-liter boxer-four engine from the Forester and Legacy.

Subaru is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Crosstrek in Japan, where it's sold as the Subaru XV, with a new special edition model. Dubbed the Advance Style Edition, the commemorative XV is distinguished by its front grille, front bumper guard, door mirrors, and rear spoiler painted in a contrasting grey metallic.

It also rides on exclusive 18-inch aluminum wheels painted in dark gun metallic. Inside, the seats are trimmed in grey synthetic leather with yellow contrast stitching, while the steering wheel features real leather and yellow contrast stitching.

In Japan, the Subaru XV Advance Style Edition is powered by a 2.0-liter e-boxer engine generating 143 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to all four wheels. As standard, the Subaru XV Advance Style comes with Subaru's EyeSight Safety Plus package of safety assists including rear vehicle detection and a front and side view monitor. In Japan, the special edition Subaru XV will retail for 2,915,000 yen ($25,538).

In addition, the Subaru XV now includes heated front fabric seats as standard equipment and a new sapphire blue pearl paint option is available for the 1.6-liter model in Japan. We'll have to wait and see if Subaru is planning to launch a special edition version of the Crosstrek in America to celebrate the subcompact's tenth anniversary but nothing has been announced yet.

In the US, the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek is available with either a 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine developing 152 horsepower or a 2.5-liter boxer rated at 182 hp. The hybrid version combines the 2.0-liter boxer engine with two electric motors for a combined 148 hp. Pricing for the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek starts at $22,445.
