Internet says "WTF?" as crass SUV hits the Singapore Auto Show.
Besides maybe the Subaru WRX STI, the Japanese brand has a habit of producing sensible, reliable, and especially modest cars and SUVs. Sort of what you'd expect from a nation of people who value respectfulness, bow politely and often, and seem to take offense to someone speaking too loudly. All of which is why the news of the naughtily named Subaru F.U.C.K.S. caught all of us by surprise.
Shown at the Singapore Auto Show, the SUV's official name is the Forester Ultimate Customized Kit Special edition, but as the pictures prove, some very strategic capitalization has been employed and it's difficult to believe that the resulting acronym is a coincidence.
For all the colorful tweets that the SUV's name inspired, is it any good? We're not so sure. The Subaru Forester and the #CarPorn hashtag have possibly never been used together, and even though the F.U.C.K.S. gets 20-inch wheels, yellow brake calipers, extra body-color trim, orangey accents, and a sizable rear spoiler, it's probably not going to make it onto any bedroom wall posters anytime soon.
You do get windows with a tint so dark that you can't see inside, which seems pretty appropriate, all things considered. The hood features more of the thick, garish orange accents, but their application looks rather cheap to our eyes.
As a video reveals, the cabin doesn't appear especially noteworthy besides STI insignia on the seats and an STI shifter. Does that mean that this could be a 300+ horsepower SUV with the WRX STI's turbocharged boxer engine? Subaru has little to say about it, though, when asked to comment on the crudely named SUV, a spokesperson for Subaru of America said that they had no information on the model as it came from "an independent distributor".
Whatever the case, the F.U.C.K.S. certainly has people talking and should it actually see the light of day, registering this thing with your insurance provider is going to be so much fun.
