It may look like a Hollywood stunt, but this is the aftermath of a bizarre real-life accident that recently happened in Seattle, Washington. Photos shared by the King County Sheriff's Office on social media show a Subaru Outback resting precariously on top of a Toyota 86. The car casualty doesn't appear to be a standard Toyota 86 either, but a special Hakone Edition finished in British Racing Green.

Judging from the photos, the Toyota 86 appears to have come off far worse than the Subaru, as the front end is badly crumpled. No doubt the windshield and roof will also be wrecked after the Outback mounted the Japanese sports car.

The Subaru Outback appears to have sustained damage to the passenger side. It's difficult to tell from the photos, but the front-end and underside of the SUV are also likely to be damaged.

So how did this strange accident happen? According to the King County Sheiff's Office, the accident happened on March 7, 2020, at around 4:55 pm at an intersection when a white Toyota Prius ran through a stop sign. This caused the driver of the Subaru Outback, who had the right of way, to swerve and crash into the Toyota 86 waiting at a stop sign.

Somehow, the Outback landed on top of the Toyota 86, which appears to have acted as a ramp for the high-riding SUV. The good news is that nobody was seriously injured in the smash-up, but the bad news is that replacement parts for the special edition Toyota 86 won't be cheap - and that's if the car wasn't totaled in the crash.

The 2020 Toyota 86 Hakone Edition starts at $30,825, making it around $3,000 more expensive than the standard car. It isn't known if the driver of the Toyota Prius was charged for causing the accident, but they will no doubt have a hefty insurance bill to pay out.
