CLA-Class

Thanks to our always sharp spy photographers, we've just been sent the latest photos showing the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLC out doing some winter testing. As we've reported earlier, the CLC will be a small four-door coupe that will resemble the larger CLS. However, it will be based on a stretched version of the platform that also underpins the new A- and B-Class. In fact, this platform can be adjusted to accommodate both front- and all-wheel-drive versions.

As can be expected, there have been rumors of a high-powered, all-wheel drive AMG version that could produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 300-340hp. Other engine options will include a gasoline engine in two versions, delivering around 121 and 154hp. Diesel fans will be able to choose between a new 1.8-liter engine delivering two stages of power, 107 or 134hp. All versions will be mated to either a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission or a six-speed manual. We expect the CLC to hit showrooms sometime in 2013.
