Spy photographers have recently snapped a few shots of the 2014 Audi RS4 Avant prototype in Europe. While this test mule may look like the current A4 wagon, it's what underneath the sheetmetal that's still in development. Judging by these photos, it appears the car is going through powertrain and suspension development. It also appear to have RS5 wheels that raise the ride height of the tester and there are also larger air intakes in the front bumper.

The production car will likely be powered by a supercharged V6 instead of the V8 found in the previous model. Power output will likely remain near 400 hp. We still wouldn't be surprised to see the power climb further, as Audi needs to compete with the BMW M3 and the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. Photos courtesy of TeamSpeed
