Just last week we received the first set of spy photos featuring the upcoming 2014 BMW X5. And now we've been sent some updated photos showing another X5 prototype out testing in the cold German winter snow. Although the X5 has never been known as a true SUV that can handle serious off-roading conditions (that's why they invented Land Rovers), it appears that BMW nonetheless wants to be sure their premiere 'SAV' can easily take on the winter weather most owners will encounter.

Although no details have been fully confirmed, sources indicate that engine options will include a range of 6- and 8-cyldiner gasoline and diesel engines. There'll also likely be an optional twin-turbo V6 and even possibly a turbocharged four-cylinder. Production will continue to take place at the automaker's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant. A full debut is expected about this time next year.
