The Audi RS1 should pack a 250hp turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and make its debut in 2012.
Our spy photographers have just captured the Audi RS1 testing on the track. Along with Quattro GmbH testing the RS5 cabriolet and the RS7 prototypes, this model will follow suit as a hot RS model based on the A1 series. The front bumper of the RS1 has been designed with the RS in mind and the rear wing, wider side sills and two fat exhaust pipes on each side further cements the fact that this car will be built for speed and performance.
Power for the RS1 should come from a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that packs around 250hp. It would be nice to see the German automaker's 340hp 5-cylidner engine borrowed from the RS3 in the new model, however it doesn't appear that they will go down that route. It will, of course, carry Quattro all-wheel-drive. The Audi RS1 is expected to launch in 2012.
