It shares its design language with other Canoo EVs.
Canoo is yet another American EV startup that hopes to steal a piece of the large Tesla pie over the next few years. The company announced that it went public last year in August - despite not having sold a single vehicle yet - and earlier this year, Canoo revealed its unusual pickup truck with a distinctive bubble shape. This same rounded design appears to feature on Canoo's upcoming sedan, which has just been captured in several spy photographs that were apparently snapped at the company's headquarters in Torrance, California.
The sedan also shares its design philosophy with the company's Lifestyle Vehicle, essentially a fully electric minibus. From some angles, it's almost difficult to determine the difference between the front and rear of the sedan, since the roofline stretches over the entire body - there is no clearly defined hood or trunk. This design seems to maximize interior volume, at least based on these images. The front is dominated by a massive windshield and a smooth body panel, and we can also see an odd rectangular-shaped steering wheel. At the back, there is a similar disdain for anything but curves and lots of glass.
Known only as a Sport Vehicle for now, the sedan is rumored to be slightly smaller than the Tesla Model 3 in its overall size. Technically, not much is known about this dramatic sedan but it is expected to ride on the company's previously revealed skateboard platform. This platform can support dual, front, or rear electric motors and a range of up to 300 miles when dual motors are used. An output of 500 horsepower - with 300 hp coming from the rear motor - has been mentioned, so the sedan has the potential to be quite a hot performer. The platform also utilizes a steer-by-wire system which makes for fun, dynamic handling. Hopefully, we get to see the sedan in full soon.
