Spied: Fiat Panda 4x4

Testing

The first photos have made their way in of the 4x4 variant of the Fiat Panda.

Our intrepid spy photographers have braved the cold to snap the first photos of the 4x4 variant of the Fiat Panda. The Italian company has decided that their 2-wheel drive Panda, recently seen at the 2011 Frankfurt International Auto Show, wasn't enough for their customers, hence the new version. Power is delivered to the back wheels via a hydraulically-actuated multi-plate clutch in front of the rear differential. It will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The 4x4 Fiat Panda will also feature redesigned front and rear bumpers, though not much is given away from this test mule. It should go on sale in late 2012. The two-wheel drive variant will be available beginning in April.
