Although it's still nearly a year away from its official debut, the Ford Focus ST is currently undergoing testing in various Ford proving grounds. And unlike the previous generation ST, Ford promises that the new one will be sold in the U.S. Power will come from Ford's latest 2.0 EcoBoost four-cylinder that produces at least 246 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. Ford has also stated that they're testing the new ST on courses everywhere from California to Germany's Nurburgring.

It will be built only as a hatch and will reportedly have class-leading fuel economy even with its performance abilities. Accomplishing this is not easy, hence the reason why Ford is taking its time going through the development phase. Expectations are undoubtedly high and Ford is fully aware of this. We still think it will be well worth the wait.
