After plenty of rumors surrounding whether Maserati has an answer or not to run up against the BMW M5, the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and the Jaguar XFR, a sports saloon was caught testing for the first time. The vehicle in question will be the fourth model in the Maserati range, joining the Granturismo sports car, the Grancabrio open-top GT, and the Quatroporte large sports saloon. At first glance it's easy to think that it looks similar to the Quattroporte.

However, the identity is given away by its shorter wheelbase, smaller front brakes and ill-fitted windscreen. It also sports just one exhaust pipe on each side as opposed to what its larger sibling has. Powertrain and platform information are unknown at the moment, but officials has previously indicated that it would be spun off the Alfa Romeo 166 replacement's platform. The engine size is also expected to be a V6 will an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. The only other detail confirmed is that it would be priced at less than £47,800 ($75,700).
