Spied: Mercedes SLK AMG Prototype

Just as the all-new Mercedes-Benz SLK is making its debut, spy photographers have recently snapped up a few shows of the upcoming high performance AMG edition. Taken near the Nurburgring, the pictures reveal that the car will receive the typical AMG exterior add-ons, specifically more aggressive bumpers, revised side skirts, a four tailpipe exhaust system, AMG wheels and badges and bigger brakes. No word yet on the engine, we're guessing that it will likely be a new 5.5-liter-twin turbo V8 with around 450 hp.

There have also been rumors that a twin-turbo V6 or a naturally aspirated V8 are also in the mix. We'll get more details as we get closer to the official launch that will likely take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. Photos courtesy of gmotors.co.uk.
