Now that Lucid has successfully caught everyone's attention with its 1,080-horsepower Air electric luxury sedan, it wants to ensure that customers have access to an exclusive purchasing experience. To that end, Lucid has announced an expansion of its California studios with new locations that have opened in San Jose and Century City.

These studios provide an opportunity to experience Lucid's products in a digitally-optimized environment, while prospective customers will also be able to use a 4K VR configurator to allow for personalization of their purchase. If this virtual reality experience is anything like the EV automaker's engaging online configurator, it's sure to be a hit.

After all, rivals like Porsche - the Taycan goes up against the Lucid Air - has its own Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and in other global locations. These are the experiences that set the premium brands apart.

Back to Lucid, though. The LA studio in Westfield Century City joins the Beverly Hills studio as the second location in Southern California. The San Jose studio is based in Westfield Valley Fair. The clean and sleek studios are designed a lot like the minimalist interior of the Air sedan and provide insight into the car's powertrain and other features. The two new studios form part of 20 studios in total that are set to open across the country by the end of next year.

These locations include New York City, West Palm Beach, and Miami. "With these newest California locations, with many more to come, more people will have the opportunity to engage in an entirely new EV car-buying journey that is as groundbreaking as the performance, efficiency, and design benchmarks set by the Lucid Air itself," enthused the company's CEO and CTO, Peter Rawlinson.

The Lucid Air sedan will start at a price of $69,900 after the federal tax credit of $7,500 is taken into account, with the production of the Dream Edition set to get underway in the spring of 2021.
