This is as opulent as it gets.
Next month, the all-new 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be officially unveiled. We've gotten a few glimpses at how it will look via some accurate renderings and have already seen some of the cutting edge technology that will be employed inside, but as clever as it may be, this is first and foremost a flagship luxury sedan.
With that in mind, Mercedes has shared some of the ways in which the new car's luxurious interior has been designed to pamper the driver and occupants. The brand describes the interior as a "third place" or "a refuge between home and workplace."
In the new pictures, we can see that outstanding craftsmanship that has been applied from the gorgeous Burmester speaker grilles to the perforated leather seats, the real aluminum inlays, and the open-pore wood trim.
The active ambient lighting system not only looks good, but is functional too; for example, visual alerts via the car's many driver-assist systems can be communicated via a red light animation.
The Mercedes Energizing Comfort and Energizing Coach systems, seen before in cars like the latest E-Class, provide various programs depending on your needs. For instance, highly stressed occupants can switch to a program that promotes relaxation, adjusting aspects like the seat massaging feature. The car can even suggest a suitable program if the driver is wearing a fitness bracelet, based on information like sleep quality. As before, an air fragrancing system will be offered.
There are numerous other improvements such as a rear pillow neck warmer, near-ear loudspeakers in the front seats, automatic seat adjustment by simply entering your height into the MBUX system, and around 250 LEDs that are even brighter than before.
Mercedes says that the uncommonly large trim elements such as the big slab of wood (or your choice of inlay) across the dashboard makes for an even more powerful statement than before. Based on these initial images, the cabin looks absolutely gorgeous and driving or being driven in the new S-Class is likely to once again set this car apart from the competition.
