One of the greatest drivers ever once owned an original Shelby GT350. And now it's heading to the auction block.
Any original Shelby Mustang is something to be cherished. But when that car just happens to have been owned by one of the greatest racing drivers to have ever graced this fine planet, then it’s even more special. Such is the case with this 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 that was once owned and raced by the one and only Sir Stirling Moss. And cars like this don’t come cheap. The GT350 is set to hit the auction block next month at the Mecum auction at Pebble Beach.
There will no doubt be quite the bidding war. The car is in solid condition and was even raced just last year at the Rolex Monterey Historics event. Moss himself raced the car from 1991 until 1997 at nine events that spanned through Europe as well as the Targa Tasmania in Australia. Power comes from a 4.7-liter V8 that produces 430 horsepower and is mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. The car also comes with full documentation along with some photos of Moss racing it along with snaps of the late Carroll Shelby. Mecum is also including in the sale records of communication between Shelby and Moss.
