It was already one of the prettiest sedans on sale, but the 2021 Volkswagen Arteon became even more attractive following its first major facelift. The 2021 Arteon features sharper styling and improvements to the interior, though the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine remains unchanged with 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Power still goes out to front-wheel-drive or optional 4Motion all-wheel-drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Sadly, the more potent Arteon R will not come to the US.

While some may cry over the lack of an Arteon R or Arteon Shooting Brake on this side of the pond, we can take solace knowing that we can still buy VW's prettiest car in the US. VW has just announced pricing for the 2021 Arteon, which starts at $36,995 for the SE trim. That's a full $1,000 more than last year, but you do get more for your money.

Even the base Arteon comes well-equipped with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, keyless access, rain-sensing wipers, 12-way power heated front seats, leatherette seating surfaces, three-zone automatic climate control, Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, and a new eight-inch MIB3 Discover Media infotainment system with navigation. The SEL R-Line starts at $41,595 and adds to the option of 4Motion for $43,395.

Stepping up to the SEL R-Line adds 19-inch wheels, an illuminated front grille light bar, an adaptive front-lighting system, panoramic sunroof, power-folding side mirrors, remote start, wireless phone charging, seat memory, multi-color ambient lighting, leather seats, adaptive cruise control, park distance control, and R-Line design elements.

Finally, the top SEL Premium R-Line trim includes standard 4Motion AWD for $46,995. This trim level also comes with 20-inch wheels, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, heated steering wheel with paddle shifters, massaging driver's seat, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, rear seat climate controls, a power trunk, and a 360-degree camera.

Three new colors are available for 2021, including Kings Red Metallic, Oryx White Pearl, and Lapiz Blue Metallic (the latter two are exclusive to the R-Line trims). VW says the 2021 Arteon arrives at US dealers in Q4 2020.
