The Genesis X was possibly the prettiest concept car revealed in 2022, and those stunning good looks may soon go into production. Speaking with Automotive News, Peter Lanzavecchia, who owns Genesis of Cherry Hill in New Jersey and serves as the chairman of the Genesis National Dealer Advisory Council, claims the Genesis X Concept will become a production car.

His source? Current Genesis Chief Creative Officer, Luc Donckerwolke, who reportedly dropped the news at the South Korean automaker's annual dealer meeting.

"When he said that at the dealer meeting - to say it in front of a couple of hundred Genesis dealers - that's a pretty good sign," Lanzavecchia said. This news is still speculative, as we are hearing a second-hand account of what Donckerwolke said at the private meeting, but we can hope there's some truth to it because the Genesis X clearly deserves a production run.

According to Lanzavecchia, Genesis dealers have been clamoring for a high-performance GT car well before Donckerwolke hinted towards the X Concept at the meeting.

"It would be a true halo flagship for the brand," he explained. "And although sales volume might be extremely limited, I think production of that convertible would help put an exclamation point at the end of the sentence saying Genesis is a full real luxury brand. I don't know if it's going to be over $200,000 or $300,000, but I guarantee we're going see a lot of Bentley Continental convertible trade-ins on that when it comes to our showrooms."

This is far from the first stunning concept vehicle to come from Genesis, and the luxury brand typically likes to follow through by putting these cars into production, or at least take elements from them for future models.

The Genesis Mint, for example, never reached production but helped inspire the all-electric 2023 Genesis GV60. We will likely see the grille from the Genesis X Convertible on a future EV, but we hope the designers can convince the accountants to let a two-door GT model enter the lineup.
