Porsche is celebrating its 75th anniversary and has embarked on several projects and events to mark this incredible milestone. Porsche Design is joining the fun with a new, limited-edition wristwatch commemorating the automaker's birthday. The Chronograph 1 - 75 Years Porsche Edition is a piece bristling with unique touches and exquisite detailing.

If you're not aware, the Chronograph 1 was first offered in 1972 but has been updated over the years with various improvements. The latest version, limited to just 475 units, is an homage to the original and stays true to its design. The rotor, for instance, is modeled after the iconic 911 "Fuchs" alloy wheel design.

It's an understated timepiece with a simple black dial uplifted by white accents. A red second-hand and the bezel with a tachometer add that extra special touch.

The case (1.6-inch diameter, 0.6- inches thick) is constructed from titanium and finished in a black titanium carbide coating. Likewise, the back of the watch has been treated to the same color, albeit in a glass-bead blasted titanium effect. The Chronograph 1 is also rated at 328 ft of water resistance.

Porsche Design has gone with a textile/leather strap that features the logo's colors to mark the 75th anniversary. However, a more subtle black leather strap with matching stitching is also available. Swapping out one strap for another should be a cinch, thanks to a quick-release system.

This Chronograph 1 uses Porsche Design's Werk 0.1.140 movement, which is COSC-certified and comes with a 48-hour power reserve.

As you may have guessed, given the exclusivity and craftsmanship, the Chronograph 1 - 75 Years Porsche Edition does not come cheap. Priced at $11,000, it's less expensive than we would have thought, given the rarity. We've seen tackier watches sell for a lot more. If you're interested, the watch is available to pre-order, with deliveries expected to commence in September.

It's not quite as pricey as the other limited-edition Chronograph 1 released last year to celebrate the arrival of the new 911 Dakar. The 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition was priced at $14,500 and available exclusively to buyers of the off-road sports car.

If you're looking to spend even more on a Porsche-themed watch, you could always opt for TAG Heuer's Carrera x Porsche RS 2.7 limited edition watch, which can you set you back as much as $23,550, depending on the chosen theme.
