Luxury horologist Atelier Jalaper has created a limited-edition wristwatch called the AJ-P400, and it's inspired by the iconic Lamborghini Miura, a car many consider the first supercar in the world.

At first glance, it's clear that the case's shape has been modeled after the classic car's elegant headlamp, but that's not the biggest Lambo influence here. Atelier Jalaper went to great lengths to source Lamborghini Miura components to construct these timepieces.

After searching for over a year, the company found a burnt Miura P400S in Avignon, France. A piece of the aluminum hood now forms part of every watch, with the watchmaker using the component for the dial.

The patinated dial is a reminder of the vehicle's history, says Atelier Jalaper, and also includes myriad details that pay homage to the Miura.

The font on the dial has been designed to emulate the classic Lambo speedometer and features clear-to-read white lettering on a black background. Similarly, the power reserve mirrors that of a fuel gauge and supplants the 6 'o clock hour marker. Instead of monitoring the voracious thirst of a V12 engine, the power reserve updates the wearer as to the winding status of the watch.

Even the strap pays tribute to the mid-engined wonder. Fashioned out of calf leather, the thin wristband is styled after the Miura's ribbed bucket seats.

Four colors are available, and even they have been selected to mirror famous Miura hues. Customers can choose between black, blue, green, and orange; typically, late '60s/early '70s hues work beautifully with the sculpted design of the iconic raging bull.

Just 400 examples will be made in each color, meaning just 1,600 units will be crafted in total. Considering the rarity and great lengths Atelier Jalaper has gone to, you'd assume the timepiece would sport a ridiculous price tag.

Surprisingly, the wristwatch costs just €1,800 (approx. $1,900), which is a lot of money, but it's a feasible way to get your very own (small) piece of a classic Lamborghini. After all, a Huracan Evo costs around $250,000.

It's also far more affordable than some of the other car-inspired luxury watches we've seen recently. Porsche's 911 Dakar-themed watch costs $14,500 and is more common, with 2,500 examples expected to be made. Still, it's got nothing on the latest Brabus Panerai timepiece that costs an eye-watering $56,000.
