As much as it may be known now for the BRZ, and among certain circles for the Outback, Subaru's reputation is staked largely on the WRX STi. The rally-bred compact is a favorite among enthusiasts, and Subaru is keen to sprinkle some of that particular fairy dust across its range. This time it has rolled out a special edition of its Forester crossover exclusively for the Russian market. Unveiled at the ongoing Moscow Motor Show, the Forester tS benefits from an injection of high-performance attitude.
The first thing you may have noticed is the STi-inspired electric blue paint and gold wheels, but the appeal of the Forester tS lies more than skin-deep. Standing for Turbo Sport, the Forester tS gets a turbocharged 2.5-liter flat four with 263 horsepower and 256 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a five-speed automatic, the special-edition crossover is quoted at a 6.5-second sprint to 62 and a 139-mph top speed. A sport-tuned suspension also gives it a reduced ride height, sportier bumpers front and rear and a roof spoiler give it a meaner look, while STi emblems adorn the body and cabin. Only 99 examples will be sold exclusively in Mother Russia at 2,130,000 rubles (about $65k).
