Subaru is one of America's favorite automakers at the moment, but that doesn't mean it's immune to criticism. Perhaps the company's dumbest move in recent memory was axing the WRX wagon. Yeah, Americans hate wagons blah, blah-but the car is freaking cool! Paul Walker drove a WRX STI five-door in the "Fast & Furious"! The good news is that an STI wagon from Subaru is on its way. The bad news is that it'll only be offered in Japan. We know this thanks to a teaser video made by Subaru and dug up by Carscoops.

The video is in Japanese and the auto translate subtitles are nonsensical, but it is titled "Levorg x STI," with Levorg being the name for the Impreza wagon in Japan and Europe.

While it sucks that the US will have to sit this one out there is hope yet. The new Impreza sedan and wagon debuted at the 2016 New York Auto Show which means that new WRX and WRX STI models should be coming any year now. It remains to be seen if Subaru will stick to its current plan of only offering the WRX and WRX STI as sedans. But remember that Subarus are selling like hot cakes in America. That means the automaker needs to be making as many cars as possible to meet demand, a fact which should help the five-door STI see new life again.
