Subaru's Viziv 2 Concept Crossover Inches towards Production

A year after its first presentation, looks almost fully-baked.

Now with four doors - of sorts - the Subaru Viziv 2 Crossover Concept, which was originally displayed in Geneva in 2013 and was since introduced in evolved form in Tokyo as well, returns to Geneva to say it is ready to be made. Almost. The concept shown here still has rear-hinged back sliding back doors and butterfly front ones, hardly a likely prospect for production. Its 20-inch wheels would probably be toned down for the road as well.

The Viziv 2 receives a 1.6-liter turbo boxer four-cylinder, and a hybrid-powered all-wheel drive system with three motors. Moving each wheel independently, the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system offers “fine-tuned control”, though Subaru wants to take some of that control away with various – and undisclosed – autonomous driving systems. One more thing that should be changed before production would definitely be the car’s name, which sounds more like a vacuum cleaner.
