Earlier this year, Jaguar updated its sexy I-Pace electric crossover in the UK. Among the changes were a faster Pivi Pro infotainment system and a new 3D surround-view camera. Besides new wheels and some fresh colors for the body, the exterior appeared unchanged, but it seems that a gentle nip and tuck is in the pipeline for the EV according to these patent images posted on the World Intellectual Property Organization's (WIPO) IP Portal. You do have to look rather closely to spot the differences, though.

While the LED daytime running lights retain their "Double J-Blade" shape shared with other recent Jags like the latest F-Pace, the lights in the lower section of the front fascia appear elongated in the patent images relative to the current Jaguar I-Pace. Close to these lights, some lighter-colored diagonal trim appears to have been added - again, these are really minor changes. At the back, the updates look a bit more noticeable, with a revised bumper and new outlets that look a bit too much like fake exhaust outlets for our liking, especially since this is an EV. Another change looks to be smaller and possibly more aerodynamic wing mirrors.

Although details of the 2021 US-spec I-Pace remain unknown, Europe recently received a new entry-level version with less power but the same range and a much more appealing price tag. A similar move for the US I-Pace range would make sense since the Audi e-tron is now offered with a cheaper Premium trim that sees it undercut the current I-Pace. When it arrives, the 2021 Jaguar I-Pace will form part of a significantly updated Jaguar lineup that has seen the departure of the XE sedan and the stylish XF Sportbrake. As the company's only EV for the time being, don't expect the I-Pace to follow the same fate as these models anytime soon.
