Solar-powered practical cars for the general public? It could happen sooner than you think.
The Aurora Solar Vehicle Association has created the all-solar-energy-powered Aurora Solaris Concept. Part of the Aurora Solaris Concept Program that began in 2010, the impressive Aurora Solaris Concept will begin the next phase of its development in the hopes that it can be completed by 2013. Aurora began building and racing solar cars over 20 years ago, and now they have turned their talents towards making a car that is practical and fun for everyday use for the general public.
The Aurora Solaris is a one-seater concept that, if produced for sale could feature an electric motor for practical travel assisted by solar power as well as an added passenger seat. Top speed for the concept is approximately 93mph. The Aurora Solar Vehicle Association hopes to finish their Solaris project in time to race it in the 2013 World Solar Challenge.
