Before anyone exclaims that our Supercar On A $50,000 Budget this week isn't actually a car, let us explain. Yes, the Morgan 3 Wheeler, depending on where you live, is actually categorized as a trike rather than a car. It even won Top Gear's "Not-A-Car of the Year" in 2011. So why have we chosen it to be this week's Supercar On A $50,000 Budget? Well, because despite its performance metrics (or lack thereof), the Morgan 3 Wheeler might be the most fun car that you can buy for less than $50,000.

Richard Hammond picked the Morgan in a three-way comparison of track cars that also included the Caterham R500 and KTM X-Bow. Jeremy Clarkson and James May mocked Hammond's choice because it wasn't actually a car, but it was able to keep up with the others in a cornering test and do a pretty sweet donut.

For those of you who haven't seen the Morgan 3 Wheeler in action, we'll explain exactly what this thing is. The 3 Wheeler was originally introduced back in 1910 and started a new class of vehicle called a "Cyclecar." The new 3 Wheeler was reintroduced back in 2011 and keeps the formula of the original car. Power comes from a front-mounted S&S V-Twin engine from a motorcycle. The engine is air-cooled and is mounted all the way in the front of the car because that's where the air is. The V-Twin sends 115 horsepower to the rear wheel through a five-speed Mazda MX-5 transmission. Even with only one wheel providing grip in the rear, this lightweight weapon can hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

If you're interested in buying on of these delightful British cars, we found one for sale. Our 3 Wheeler is finished in Connaught Green with Yarwood and Light Tan Hide interior. It even has British Union Jacks on the sides. The car only has 1,222 miles on it and comes with all books and two keys. It is a 2013 model and apparently comes with the balance of its factory warranty. If you want to go take a look at it, head to Chariots Of Palm Beach in West Palm Beach Florida. And if you want to buy it, make sure to bring $46,900, which seems like a reasonable price. We can't imagine having more fun on four (in this case three) wheels. Can you really put a price on fun?

If you've watched the Top Gear episode, you know that the Morgan probably isn't a car that you want to drive everyday. It doesn't have a roof, or even a windshield. It is also extremely low to the ground, which means that driving it in the US, where everyone is driving tall SUVs and crossovers, could be a bit frightening.

The Morgan 3 Wheeler really isn't much more than a toy, but isn't that what a supercar is supposed to be? If you drive a supercar everyday, it might lose its luster. Plus, if you do buy the 3 Wheeler in the US, where it isn't considered a car, you will only have to pay for motorcycle insurance, which is much cheaper. If you are looking for a fun toy, look no further than the amazing Morgan 3 Wheeler.
