Suzuki Jimny Soldiers On with New Updates

Suzuki does the Jimny sweep with some minor updates for Britain's smallest SUV.

Though Suzuki is leaving the United States, in other markets (like Canada, where it's staying, incidentally), it's business as usual for the Japanese automaker. Some of its models never even made it to the North American market, like the diminutive Jimny, which has now been given a little update. Marking 43 years of compact SUVs from Suzuki, the Jimny has sold 2.6 million units across 188 markets worldwide since its introduction in 1998. These updates ought to help Suzuki move a few more.

Among the updates the cute-ute has been given are revised exterior and interior styling, including a new front bumper, grille and hood with integrated air intake. The interior has also been given new upholstery - fabric in the SZ3 trim and a leatherette/fabric combo in the SZ4 - as well as new headrests and ISOFIX mountings for booster seats. Buyers can also opt for a new Breeze Blue metallic paint, while the engine has been upgraded with a new 1.3-liter, 16-valve alloy four with variable valve timing to deliver 85 metric horsepower, 81 lb-ft of torque and greater efficiency.
