It started out as a rusted and moldy 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud and by the time Icon 4x4 founder Jonathon Ward and his crew finished their work it was still rusty. That rust and patina was left alone on purpose because this Rolls-Royce is part of Icon's insanely cool Derelict series. This latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage features Ward and his latest project, which will soon head to its new owner in Australia. Right off the bat, you'll notice this RR is right-hand drive. Always was.

A conversion was not considered. But part of the whole Derelict concept is to preserve the car's current exterior appearance, but alter literally everything else. That includes gutting the interior and replacing everything with modern electronics and such.

The chassis, as expected, consumes a huge chunk of the budget. As is the case with past Derelict projects, the engine was also ripped out. Instead of the original straight-six, Ward went with an LS7 V8 with 550 hp. Stopping power is provided by Brembo brakes, six-piston front and four-piston rear. It also features an Art Morrison independent front suspension and a four-link rear suspension. While the finished product is absolutely brilliant, it's the details on how Icon's latest came to be that's just as interesting.
