Syrena Sport Reforms the 350Z

Modern design pays tribute to a Polish classic with the underpinnings of a Nissan Z.

Nissan stunned the industry when it brought out the neo-retro 350Z in 2003. The stylistic revisions made to the 370Z that came in 2009, despite the mechanical upgrades that came with it, left some enthusiasts scratching their heads, though. The solution? Re-body it altogether. At least that’s what one crew in Poland is doing, taking the Nissan sportscar and remaking it as the Syrena Sport previewed in these renderings. The project pays tribute to a sportscar of the same name made in Poland in the 50s through the early 70s, despite the Cold War that was festering at the time.

The new Syrena Sport looks (to our eyes, anyway) like a blend between a Jaguar F-Type and a Ferrari California. (We're still trying to figure out if that's a good thing.) Despite its underpinnings, the Syrena is projected to use the newer 3.7-liter V6, either retaining its 330-horsepower stock output or fitted with a turbocharger to boost power up to 450 horses for a 4.5-second 0-60 time and a 180mph top speed. Designer Pavlo Burkatskyy (of Arrinera “fame”) and entrepreneur Rafal Czubaj are reportedly working on one example, but could offer more if there’s enough demand.
