Early this month, Audi revealed the all-new 2022 A8, its idea of a luxury limo built to take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW's 7 Series. It wasn't much of a surprise to us though, as we had already been shown the Horch version of the car. If you've never heard of the Horch name, all you need to know is that it is one of the luxury automakers that eventually merged with other brands to form what is now Audi. As such, reviving the name is meant to remind us of Audi's long history of excellence while also showing us just how luxurious its products can be. Take a look at the video below and you'll really understand why this is a true Maybach fighter.

Looking resplendent under the glittering lights of the 2021 Guangzhou Motor Show, the A8 L Horch has loads of chromed brightwork, from the enormous grille to the mirror caps and bumper accents. Monoblock wheels that look very similar to what Maybach produces are also on display, as well as unique badging for the fenders, C-pillars, door sills, and wheel caps. More chrome can be found at the rear, with a bright metal strip connecting the full-width taillights and more of the same accenting the lower rear bumper, rocker panels, and window trims. If that's not opulent enough for you, the cabin is sure to wow.

Inside, you get quilted leather, loads of double stitching, a full-length center console housing controls for the luxurious seats, a minibar fridge, and rear-seat multimedia screens. There's loads of aluminum and wood in here too, along with plenty of gloss black accenting, but under the bright lighting and without the benefit of post-shoot photo editing, those gloss black accents and fingerprint-attracting touchscreens don't look particularly great. Still, this is not a problem unique to the Audi A8, and we're sure there will be loads of wealthy buyers lining up to get one. Those buyers will likely all speak Mandarin, however, as this is a China-only model that is unlikely to ever come to America.
