New Jersey may soon be host to a second US Formula 1 race.
Austin, Texas is a great town, there is no denying that. That said, the new Circuit of the Americas does lack a bit of the glamour to which Formula 1 has grown accustom in places like Monte Carlo or Valencia. One might think that a better American location for such a sport might be against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline, say a track just across the river, straddling the border between Weehawken and West New York, New Jersey. Good idea.
Talks are now underway to give F1 a home just fifteen minutes from all of the skyscrapers of Manhattan. This doesn't mean that Austin will be giving up their race, it seems that with races like Bahrain and possibly Turkey dropping off the F1 schedule, there is now room for two US races. The mayors of the two towns involved are in talks to make sure that they don't end up with a situation where everybody goes to New York to have fun and spend money and then New Jersey gets stuck with the bill. Assuming this can be worked out, we'd be very excited to see this new venue make it onto the schedule.
