Tanner Foust Shows Some Serious Skill In Quantum Leap-Inspired Video

Drifting

Ken Block isn’t the only man who can make sideways driving look easy.

You may remember Tanner Foust as the face of the sadly cancelled Top Gear USA. He’s also one of America’s most prolific and multi-talented racing drivers, having conquered Formula Drift, Rallycross and X Games. With this wealth of experience under his belt, you would expect him to have some considerable driving skill. And you’d be right, as this new drifting video shows – it basically amounts to six minutes of Foust showing off coupled with gratuitous Rockstar Energy Drink product placement.

To be fair, that isn’t giving the production’s smart execution the justice it deserves. The video is set up as a parody of the 1990s sci-fi show Quantum Leap starring Scott Bakula, who had the ability to transport himself into other people’s bodies. Likewise, we see Foust switching between a variety of vehicles through the magic of his golden steering wheel.

We get to see him tame his souped-up Volkswagen Beetle rallycross car across a twisty mountain road before being treated to some skillful sideways driving at a speedway in his insanely powerful 700-horsepower Passat drift car. There’s even some off-road action in a buggy, and an impressive show-stopping jump stunt involving the Beetle. The video certainly lives up to its name: he really can drift anything, which makes for a thoroughly entertaining watch. Ken Block has consistently impressed with the driving on display in his immensely popular Gymkhana series, but can he jump between six different cars simultaneously? We think not.
