Its official - Porsche is bringing back the Targa roof for the 2014MY 911. The Targa-style roof first made its appearance on a Porsche 911 in 1965 and the German company axed it from its lineup when the 964-era 911 was replaced by the 993 911 back in 1994. The new 991 911 features a full Targa roof and we can see it here in our latest set of spy shots from Europe. The 991 Porsche 911 seen in these photos shows some clever camouflage to try and disguise the Targa design as a regular convertible.

Upon closer inspection, however, you can clearly see the removable hard-top and the necessary roll bar. What is still unclear on the new Porsche 911 Targa is whether or not it will be four-wheel-drive a la the Carrera 4 and 4S or rear-wheel-drive. Though not many details are currently known about the new Porsche 911 Targa, we do expect it to debut in 2013 as a 2014 model year.
