We knew it was coming and now Hennessey has revealed the first images of the Venom F5 Roadster, tweeting that the car will make its debut on August 19 at The Quail during Monterey Car Week.

The profile shot reveals the Roadster will look much like the F5 hardtop sans removable roof section. Unlike the discontinued Venom GT Spyder, the F5 Roadster is a ground-up effort that requires no overhead bracing since it didn't start life as a chopped Lotus Elise.

The Hennessey Venom F5 may not have delivered on being the first to 300 mph after the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ laid down the benchmark, but it's still plenty fast. The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse has held the roadster top speed record for 10 years now (for a production car), but Hennessey claims it has the fastest convertible in the world with the Venom GT Spyder that clocked 265.6 mph in 2016 and that the F5 will be even quicker.

The Venom F5 uses a carbon fiber monocoque chassis design for a lightweight design with extremely stiff characteristics. The Venom F5 Roadster benefitted from this design being able to remove the roof section with no structural compromise. Based on the teaser pic, it's impossible to tell if it has a fabric roof or hardtop section or if this is a fair-weather hypercar with no roof like a Ferrari Monza SP2.

Aside from the aesthetics and design of the Venom F5 Roadster, we know more about the powertrain specs it will share with the hardtop. The Venom F5 hardtop will likely be faster by design for safety, but the new Venom F5 Roadster will doubtless outrun the old Venom GT Spyder.

Hennessey previously announced that the Venom F5 Roadster is powered by a twin-turbo 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 pumping out 1,817 horsepower at a lofty 8,000 rpm and 1,193 lb-ft of torque, just like the coupe.

Any further specs and info will have to wait until next week when the Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster makes its global debut. The coupe is now sold out, with each of the 24 units selling for $1.6 million a pop. We expect the Roadster to be equally limited in number and command an even higher price tag.
